HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

This month we are celebrating HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH throughout our country, paying due tribute to the myriad of contributions and to the existence of the vast and growing Latin/Spanish speaking community. This is about to be one of America’s leading communities in size and impact and at the United Palace, where I am Executive of Art, Culture and Entertainment (ACE), Through YOU CAN SUCCEED!, our 501(c )3 community-educational outreach organization, I have been working closely with Mayor Bloomberg and the Latin Commission that he has organized to empower New York’s huge Latin Community. I contacted you about help in bringing an incredible artist from the Dominican Republic to dialogue and speak about her poignant work as we sponsor an exhibit of her work at The Gallery in the United Palace Annex, Broadway between 175th and 176th Streets. We are actually hanging her work as we speak and bringing her to New York during the week of October 23, 2005 and we will alert as to the new date for a Meet the Artist reception.

In the meantime, I know that you are in the midst of planning your DIVERSITY calendar events and you need to be made aware and invited to a couple of key events.

This weekend is a very special one beginning tomorrow night at the United Palace with a two major projects, on tomorrow with a CBS taping of The Estrella Awards, and on Sunday with UNIVISION’s Objetivo FAMA. The Estrella Awards are endorsed by Mayor Bloomberg, and produced by Das Velez and Elizabeth Caldes from the Mayor’s Latin Commission with several sponsors including CBS. The Estrella Awards much like the Latin American Idol awards and will be holding a CBS broadcast for the finalists on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 6:30 pm for private reception and a 7:30 program. I apologize for this coming so late, but please know that you are all invited to be our VIP special guests tomorrow evening for the private reception and CBS Estrella Award Finals taping from 6:30 pm and ending around 10:00 pm. We do expect the Mayor to attend; we have had a confirmation from his office.
