New York City has a "best kept secret" that is taking the city by storm!
On February 15, 1930 the Loew's Company opened a 3,293 seat Wonder Theatre designed by Thomas Lamb for vaudeville and movies. From the Opening Day Parade in 1930 to the recent sold-out Fernando Villalona Concert, the goal to bring "Times Square Entertainment" uptown has been successfully achieved. Purchased by Dr. Frederick Eikerenkoetter and Christ Community United Church in 1969, this historic "jewel box" was exquisitely restored and is still maintained for concerts and recitals, classes and lectures, Robert Morton Pipe Organ recitals (one of five such organs remaining worldwide), multi-cultural church activities (bilingual), as well as major film and television shoots. Help us to celebrate the 77th year of this New York treasure with several very special events and the culturally diverse Washington Heights - Inwood commmunity.
